Frequently Asked Questions about link2wales

Can I submit information about a band I was in and how do I do it?

Yes you can – this is how link2wales works and it is up to you how much info you send. But PLEASE try to stick to these guidelines and your info will be entered far quicker.
Band name – when formed / split, where are they from?
Band members – please write them in the following format
Vocalist (voc), Guitarist (gtr), Bassist (bass), Drummer (drms), Synth or Keyboard Player (keys), Guitarist-Vocalist (voc, gtr), Backing Singer (b.voc).

Also try to add releases and dates of release, any interesting anecdotes (eg, they played to the Prime Minister and he threw up), and very importantly, please add any previous or later bands that members were in as this helps piece the jigsaw together.
Precise dates are always good as they can also be included in the On This Month in History section.

Can I send in a gig review for publication?
Yes of course! – You don’t even have to ask… Please remember to include the date and if you have a photo or two from the night then that’ll be excellent. Don’t worry about the layout – I’ll do that. Send it in text form or as a Word Document.

How do I get a gig listed on your gig guide?
email me with it

How do I get played on your radio show?
Send me a copy of your CD, minidisc or vinyl or better still – email me an MP3 of your best song. If I like it I’ll play it.
Also – it doesn’t have to be new stuff – I’m happy to receive archive material.

I’m trying to get hold of Joe Bloggs from the Blogg Band, do you have his email address?
I don’t keep a file of email addresses (cos I’m crap like that) – but I will be setting up a Looking For… page very soon, in the meantime try the Message Board.

I don’t agree with some of the info you’ve included about a band I was in, in fact I find it quite offensive…
Let me know what it is! It could be you’ve had a dispute with a former member and they are out to spite you, so get your side of the story in! – I refuse to rewrite history and omit people from band line ups because they’ve fallen out, but I’m happy to start a good row!

Can you get us a session on Adam Walton’s Show?
Can you get us some gigs please?

Do I look like your slave? I have no direct influence over who Adam picks for his Radio Wales shows, in fact he tells me the only band he’s ever liked that I’ve introduced to him are Gintis! I know if you prodded him you’d find that it isn’t entirely true as I’m sure there’s a few more tucked away on his iPod. What I can do is like your music enough to be enthusiastic about it – Adam gets a vibe from the reviews and has been known to book sessions on account of link2wales reviews alone (see Der Bomber). So – in a nutshell – No, I can’t get you a session on Radio Wales – try Adam Walton!
As for gigs – I don’t arrange them – I used to but can’t cope with the stress! People like Steve Rastin at Blood & Lipstick do it far better than I can.

Why do you include Liverpool in a Welsh archive?
Liverpool is merely a suburb of Wales! – There were so many connections between North Wales and the great city that it was the next natural course. I have been tinkering with Manchester, but the workload is overwhelming at the moment – maybe next year.

I saw you at our gig last week but you haven’t done a review. Why?
Hey… I was pissed! I do like a good night out and just because I haven’t written about your show didn’t mean I thought it was poor. Sometimes I feel inspired to write, sometimes I don’t, most times I’m too busy!
You can of course submit your own reviews.
